CR Rousseau is best known for dreamlike abstracts inspired by fashion moments, the human form and her favorite west coast locales. From the Seattle-area, she's spent a lot of time with family in California. That laid-back west coast lifestyle informs her work today. Keeping a naiveté aesthetic with bold colors and simplified forms, she strives to keep a playful and open perspective.
Rousseau pays acute attention to the emotions of culture, color and the feel of form. Paintings are layered and multi-faceted compositions that engage and provoke though the energy of pigment.
"I'm multi-lingual in my visual and conceptual vocabulary which has emerged through my evolving practice that focuses on points between abstract, impressionist and expressionist work...since childhood, I've been drawn to exploring,” said Rousseau.
Rousseau paints in her Bainbridge Island studio and exhibits in New York and California. Her work can also be found internationally in art fairs and in private collections.
